As Christmas approaches we are conscious of the fact that due to Covid 19 we have not been able to raise money for charity through our concerts as all our concerts had to be cancelled. We always try to support locally and despite restrictions, we intend to do so this year.
Basingstoke Ladies' Choir chose Sebastian's Action Trust for their Charity for 2020. As we cannot sing for them we have set up a Just Giving page to raise funds for them.
We are also supporting the Tesco Chineham Gift Appeal who distribute gifts at Christmas, through Children's services, to children most in need. We had hoped to sing carols there this year. Maybe next!
This time of year can be quite cold and we all wrap up warm or hurry back to our warm homes. But there are some people who are desperate for some warm clothing throughout the winter months. Through one of our members we are able to donate Coats4Calais. To see how you might be able to help, read the information about them on this page.
Have you ever been really, really, hungry? Sadly there are many families and individuals who do not have enough money to buy sufficient food. Several members of the choir are involved with Foodbank so as a choir we are supporting this charity too.

If you would like to join us in supporting any of our charities, please read the information on them further down this page.

We wish you all a Happy and Healthy Christmas. We look forward to being able to sing and perform together in 2021

‘Sebastian’s Action Trust is a charity founded in 2004 from the last wish of our founder who wanted to reach beyond the limitations of his own lifetime and illness to help others. His desire to create a special place where families facing enormous challenges could come together for memory making, rest and relaxation is the cornerstone upon which our family focused yet child centred model has evolved.
We provide emotional, social and practical care for life-limited and life-threatened children and their families.’

For several years Tesco at Chineham have run a Christmas Gift Appeal. In the past they have utilised the store to have School Choirs etc. performing to help raise funds, which for obvious reasons can’t happen this year.
The Appeal has already been launched in store in the hope of having more time to reach the same result as in previous years.

Any money raised will go to buying gifts, and all gifts donated and purchased are distributed via Children’s Services to those most in need.

Tescos will also accept toys at their Chineham store
Please note that any toys donated have to be new and unused. Be assured that they are greatly appreciated and will make a huge difference.

Donations can be made by bank transfer to

Each year Coats4Calais provides warm clothing for many of the refugees in Calais throughout the winter months. This is an opportunity for you to clear your wardrobes of your unwanted coats, jackets, scarves, hats and gloves. This year there is a particular need for coats or jackets for teenage males. However any donations will be gratefully received.

I am the point of contact in Basingstoke. Items can be received between 16th November and 19th December. They will be very much appreciated.

Please contact me on any of the following(m) 07881781407landline: 01256 419427, email: to arrange the drop-off point for the items.

More information about this project may be found on the following link:

    With many thanks

‘We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.’

If you shop at Tesco Chineham, on 19, 20, 21 November there will be a specific collection for our Basingstoke Foodbank. We have distributed three times the amount of food during the last few months compared to the same time last year- thanks to COVID.

Many stores have a permanent crate for donations: Asda-Brighton Hill, Sainsburys-Kempshott & Tadley, Lidl-Worting Rd, Waitrose, Co-op-Old Basing.
